The Welland-McMaster Family Health Team and the Niagara Migrant Workers Interest Group are excited to announce our 4th annual Pelham Health Fair for Migrant Farm Workers!
The Health Fair is happening on Sunday, June 7, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Pelham Community Church (461 Canboro Rd., Fenwick, ON). We would like to thank the church for providing the venue for this year's event!
In Pelham, migrant workers support local farms and greenhouses and play an important role in the region’s agricultural sector. This event aims to improve workers' access to health and social services in the Niagara region. It also offers a space to connect with and appreciate workers.
Call for Community Donations
To help make this year’s event another memorable one, we are reaching out to Niagara’s local businesses and residents to lend their support. Donations of practical and fun items will be used as raffle prizes and gift bag giveaways for the workers attending the Health Fair.
Here are some examples of useful items:
- Practical/Safety: Sunscreen, hats, caps, sunglasses, water bottles, insulated bottles, work gloves, lip balm.
- Health/Hygiene: Hand sanitizer, soap, toothpaste, towels, toothbrushes, wet wipes, shampoo.
- Recreational: Soccer balls, dominoes, small portable speakers, small sports equipment.
- Other thoughtful touches: Gift cards to local stores or grocery stores (Walmart, No Frills), non-perishable snacks or culturally familiar treats.
- World Cup item for raffle: Since the World Cup is coming up in June, we could also include a raffle item like a Mexico soccer jersey or something related to the World Cup. This would be a fun way to engage workers!
As a thank-you, all contributing businesses and organizations will be recognized on the event sponsor poster, acknowledged during the Health Fair, and featured on the NMWIG website and social media platforms. For examples from past events, check out this page.
Your support—no matter how big or small—goes a long way in showing agricultural workers that they are seen, valued, and welcome.
